Student Services Best Practice Knowledge Sharing Forum for StudentRelate22/06/2008

Universities have been using StudentRelate for managing the delivery of services to students for over 10 years. Many users have developed new administrative processes designed to reduce paperwork, speed up administration tasks and maintain highest quality standards. A number of Universities who had recently implemented StudentRelate approached JI Software asking for contact details of other users so that they could get access to best practice student CRM.

Users have a need to speak with other experienced Student Services professionals, and specifically with those teams using the system for managing disability services because this is the most complex and demanding area. Student Services staff are committed to providing the highest quality services possible with their limited resources. Achieving high standards in disability service is more demanding because quality is assessed against both type of disability and level of severity as independently assessed. So there is a real need to achieve best practice in disability service administration.

That is why JI Software organised a meeting at the NADP conference. JI Software accepted responsibility for organising the StudentRelate Knowledge Sharing Forum. There was an added concern expressed that several universities have had their services audited and a number still using paper-based administrative processes were found wanting. The terms of reference and forum purpose were agreed.

All representatives agreed to accept calls and share innovative administrative processes. JI Software recommended that the Knowledge Sharing Forum representative should be one of the staff trained to Application Administrator level. This person should also have experience of implementing new administrative processes using the standard StudentRelate facilities.

Participants agreed to respect the heavy workload carried by all StudentRelate Application Administrator staff and restrict knowledge sharing calls to important Student Services procedures. All user departments have a technical support service provided by JI Software so no user issues or system issues should be handled in this way.  Rules of engagement accepted unanimously by all.
